Redmi A7

Redmi A7 Overview

Design and display

Starting with the design, the Redmi A7 opts for a plastic unibody build, flat frames, and curved edges like its predecessor. The phone weighs around 193 grams and measures 8.26mm thick, which were the exact measurements for the Redmi A5 as well. But what’s changed this time is that the Redmi A7 no longer has that gold/silver rim around its camera module like its predecessor.

Instead, Xiaomi has opted for a cleaner look this time by placing the camera module on top of a transparent housing. Kinda like theย iPhone 17ย (review). Actually, its color options, namely โ€œBlackโ€, โ€œSky Blueโ€, and โ€œOrchid Purpleโ€, are in line with Apple’s base iPhone as well.

Redmi A7 - Design and Display

There’s not much to talk about the Redmi A7’s display, though. It has the same 6.88-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution like the Redmi A5, which is decent enough for casual use. Although if our experience with the Redmi A5 is any indication, we’re pretty sure its 120Hz refresh is gonna be limited to the system settings menu. While everything else caps out at 90Hz.

Other than this, the Redmi A7’s display covers 70% of the NTSC color gamut. So the visuals on the screen should look decently vibrant enough. Likewise, the Redmi A7 maxes out at just 450 nits of brightness, so outdoor visibility is definitely a massive concern here. But since this guy has DC dimming and since it’s also TรœV Rheinland low-blue-light certified, you should be able to comfortably use the phone at low brightness levels.

Performance

Under the hood, Redmi A7 is powered by the same Unisoc T7250 chip as well. It’s manufactured under a 12nm process, and it brings an octa-core CPU with two performance and six efficiency cores. Since this chip is specially designed (almost strictly) for casual use, you can expect a decent experience with things like social media scrolling or some light gaming.

Memory-wise, Xiaomi Nepal ships it in a single configuration with 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. Once you run out of storage, you can use a microSD card to expand storage as well. And in terms of software, the Redmi A7 runs on Android 15 (Go Edition).
